William R Wiebbecke passed away January 21, 2021 quietly after an intense fight with COVID-19. William (Bill) was born October 5, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa to Earl G. Wiebbecke and Georgia L. (Henry) Wiebbecke. He attended schools in Waterloo and Belle Plain, Iowa where he completed his education and graduated in 1960. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Military Police. Bill spent three years in Germany and was extended because the Berlin Wall was being built at the time. He returned home September 1963 and shortly met his partner for life, Barbara Hansen. They were married on June 4, 1964 in Iowa. After a few years, they moved to Colorado where he used his army training to continue serving his country in law enforcement as a sheriff’s deputy and police officer in Boulder, CO for over 38 years while Bobbi taught elementary school. The family grew with the births of Heidi (Shrader) and Elisa (Wingerd). The children were his delight and he was involved with their lives as much as possible. The family grew and the grandchildren that he enjoyed over the years were Annelise and Kaitlyn (Shrader) and Katharine, Cordell and Gage (Wingerd). His life legacy is his service and kind investment in the lives of dear family and friends; those whom he met at work, or just casual acquaintances. His goal was to make each person important and whenever he could, he would help impact them in a way that would make their lives turn around or improved for the better. The stories he would tell, often through tears, were ones of him diligently executing his oath to serve and protect, yet they were stories that reflected his kindness and compassion. These stories are memories now but live on in the lives of all those whom he quietly touched and his is legacy lives on with those surviving him: His wife, Bobbi Wiebbecke, daughters, grandchildren and brother, Thomas Wiebbecke. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane) with arrangements. Visitation is to be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 8:30 am with the service at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (553 Ashmoor Ave, Bowling Green, KY 42101). Interment will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West Chapel (5817 Fort Campbell Blvd Hopkinsville, Kentucky). In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations given to the Holy Trinity Lutheran School (553 Ashmoor Ave, Bowling Green, KY 42101).
