Vanessa Henderson

Vanessa V. Henderson, age 51, of Bowling Green, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. Vanessa was born on March 28, 1967 in Louisville, KY. She was baptized at an early age at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, KY where she was a member of the Young Adult Choir. Vanessa graduated from the special education program at Butler High School, class of 1990. Following graduation, she worked at a local restaurant while volunteering with United Way and Diversified Services. Vanessa worked several years for LifeSkills Industries and Helping Hands where she was loved by many coworkers and supervisors. Vanessa resided with Community Alternatives of Kentucky-Bowling Green, where she was beloved by many caretakers and housemates over the years, many of whom call her friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Henderson and Raymond Henderson. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Deborah Simmons; brother, James Cross; sister, Valerie Jewell; sister, Mona Burns; cousin, Rita Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews. A service honoring her life will be held at Cone Funeral Home-1510 Campbell Lane, Bowling Green-at 1:00 p. m. Monday, November 26, 2018, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery; visitation will begin at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts toward the funeral costs would be appreciated (gifts may be sent to Cone Funeral Home).
