Stephen Kelly

d. January 9, 2025

Nashville, TN

Stephen Kelly, a cherished member of his family and community, was born on December 10, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island. He passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by love and memories.

Stephen was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jo Kelly and the devoted father of Laura Kelly. He is survived by his children, Caprice Steward, married to Gary Steward, and Elisabeth Kelly, partner Fred Little III, who will continue to carry his legacy forward. His spirit lives on through his grandchildren, Makayla Steward and Payton Steward, who will remember him fondly.

Stephen shared a special bond with his siblings. He is survived by his brother Jeffrey G. Kelly, married to Susan Kelly, and Maggie, affectionately known as the pandemic dog. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Adra Kelly, wife Mary Jo Kelly, daughter Laura Kelly and his brother Robert Kelly II, who was married to Rosemaire Kelly.

Stephen will be remembered for his generous spirit, warm smile, and the profound impact he made on everyone who knew him. His legacy will continue through the love and bonds he fostered during his lifetime. We honor his memory and the many ways he enriched the lives of those around him.

Steve "Rivers" Kelly was a salesman by trade for years prior to running his own successful business. After retirement, sitting still was not an option. He still had so much more to offer with his incredible work ethic.

He knew the In's and Out's of the pizza business and helped his buddy Eric with the Firehouse Pizza here in Bowling Green. He was so happy to still be able to help at 81 with the reopening after the tornado that destroyed the building.

He was an active member of the American Legion and acting nursing home coordinator. He was fiercely loved by his family and a major role in the lives of his two granddaughters, Makayla and Payton. Steve "Pop" had just received news of a promotion to "Great Pop" with the announcement of a great grandchild on the way.

The world was a better place with him in it. His humor, wit and jokes, both appropriate and not, provided so many laughs to so many people. He kept his comedic routine up until the very end. HIs jokes are already missed.
