Shelkya Lynn Pennington was a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on May 31st, 2023, at the age of 45. Shel was born to Mayme and Albert Roy Shultz in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, on June 21, 1977. After graduating from Westmoreland Community College, Shel worked as an early childhood educator and met her husband, Joe Pennington. Joe and Shel built their life in Portland, Tennessee, where they welcomed their daughter Delaney Jolyn Pennington. Shel was a devoted mother and teacher to Delaney. In addition to homeschooling her daughter, she built a cleaning business and blessed the lives of numerous clients over the years with her loving touches and laughter. Shel enjoyed riding her horse (Cruz) and prioritized family traditions (like her famous potato salad and annual Christmas Eve party). She touched many people with her generosity, kindness, and compassion. Shel’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Joe; daughter, Delaney; mother, Mayme; 6 brothers, Wylie, Glenn, Wade, Clay, Clinton, Ben; sister, Yvonne; 6 sisters-in-law, Pam, Barb, Katie, Jill, Vicki, Lisa; brother-in-law, John; and 16 nieces and nephews, Taylor Alley (John), Hannah Calhoun (Alex), Madi Tummins (Tatum), Olivia Sribniak (Andy), Heidi Shultz, Emma Haynes (Hunter), Holly Shultz (Austin), Heather Shultz, Abby Shultz, Haylee Shultz, Lauren Shultz, Caleb Shultz, Eli Shultz, Reagan Shultz, Noah Shultz, Kenzie Shultz. Shel’s celebration of life is scheduled for June 24, 2023, from 4-7 PM at Red River Farms in Springfield, TN.
