Searoba Board Phelps, R. N. , passed away after a lengthy illness, on October 18th, 2018. A life-long resident of Warren County, she was a 1952 graduate of Warren County High School. She completed her nursing certification through Nashville General Hospital in 1955 and completed her health teaching certification through the University of Kentucky. She spent her early career working for Dr. Jack Scott and teaching LPN classes, but she was most known as the first teacher for the Health and Career Services program at the Bowling Green Vocational and Technical College. During her retirement years, she was continuously approached and thanked by former students for her influences, leadership, and teaching acumen. She helped countless numbers of young people build a career in the medical profession. She always enjoyed crocheting, playing piano in local churches and her private residence, country-line dancing, cooking for her family, but her two sons, nursing, and teaching were her truest passions. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Jewell Board, step-mother, Margaret Edna Board, and her father, William Ervin Board. Survivors include two sons, Craig Anderson (Linda), and Derek Anderson. Visitation will be held at Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane) Saturday Oct. 20th, from 6pm to 8pm and Sunday Oct. 21st from 1 pm to 3pm with a graveside service following at Old Union Cemetery. Searoba's family would like to recognize her long-time dance partner, Don Binkley of Joelton, TN. and all the staff and caregivers of Morningside Assisted Living.
