Ruth Muncy

November 10, 1955 — July 22, 2023

Ruth Louise Muncy passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 22, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. Ruth was born on November 10, 1955, to Jeanette L. (Anthony) Crouch and Raymond Charles Crouch Sr. She graduated from Oswego High School and spent many years in New York before moving to North Carolina in 1997. In her words she lived a simple country girl life, she grew up on a dairy farm and spent time climbing trees and camping with the cows. She loved family BBQs and listening to her dad sing and play the guitar. Her favorite childhood memories were with the 4-H club where she loved learning about nature and spending time with her friends, siblings and many cousins. In 1997 she moved to Oak Island, NC, she loved the ocean and wanted to be closer to her sister Jeanette. Ruth worked on Bald Head Island for several years before starting a career at Lowes Home Improvement in Southport, NC where she stayed for 17 years. She loved her time there and had many lasting impacts on her co-workers. In 2017 she moved to Bowling Green to be near her daughter. She bought a camper and found a spot at the Bowling Green KOA. The place became very special to her and gave her some amazing friends that she cherished. She enjoyed living the nomad life for several years before she retired in 2021 to the beach at Virginia Creek Campground. Although she “retired” she went back to work at the Lowes in Surf City, NC where she turned even more co-workers into friends. Ms. Ruth or Ruthie left an impression on everyone she met. She was the kindest soul with a sweet, loving, funny personality. She loved to make people laugh and smile wherever she went. One of her favorite activities was fly tying, she spent several years working with the Wounded Warriors and recently had joined the Topsail Area Fly Fishers where she showed off the first night by tying a Royal Coachman, someone told her “Way to show off, go big or go home. ” She loved making shadow boxes with her flies, and they are really something to see. Music was one of her favorite things, she was grateful that she lived in a time where she grew up listening to the Beatles, The Eagles, Neal Young, Janis Joplin, and especially Elvis. She was always looking for him! Ms. Ruth loved all things in nature, she had an affinity for birds, especially hummingbirds, she loved planting flowers for the bees, and always wanted to leave things better than she found them. Animals were special to her too, there was a llama that lived by her camper, she would bring him an apple every day. Dogs were her favorite though, Molly, Buster, Duke… but her current dog Xander owned her heart and soul. We always joked that he was her favorite child. He misses her terribly. But, the most important thing in life to her was her family. She loved every family gathering. We spent years camping and fly fishing all through NY, her favorite spots were Chittenango Falls, Fish Creek and the AuSable River. We also had lots of camping fun in the Blue Ridge Mountains and lots of family trips to the beaches of NC. She loved every minute with us, every holiday, meal, family game night, swimming, fishing, and watching sunsets together. She was so very proud of her children and grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to tell everyone she met about her family. She loved us fiercely with every bit of her heart and she will be sorely missed. She left us with these words of wisdom "Laugh, cry, get mad! But God made things this way. Live your life to the fullest and enjoy every living moment. " Ruth, our Warrior of Perseverance, was predeceased by her sister Jeanette Raby; we know they are celebrating today in heaven. She is survived by her parents Jeanette L. (Anthony) Crouch and Raymond Charles Crouch Sr. her children, Rashad (Denise) Arram, Nisrene (Jason) Trombly, and Ramsey Arram. Her beautiful, awesome, so proud of you, grandchildren Damian Vandish, Ambria Arram, Lily Trombly, Serena Arram, and Jack Trombly. She is also survived by her siblings, her sister Cynthia (Michael) Bouffard and two brothers, Raymond Crouch Jr. and Timothy (Elise) Crouch. She will be deeply missed by her many cousins and nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in North Carolina and New York. Memorial contributions can be made at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Hospital in Surf City NC or Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home with arrangements.
