Ralph Vance Petitt, II, 83, was born on March 5, 1938, in Cabin Creek, WV, to the late Ralph and Madeline Petitt, and passed from this life on February 9, 2022, in Bowling Green, KY. In addition to his parents, Mr. Petitt was preceded in death by his High School sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Patricia. Ralph is survived by his and Patricia’s four sons, Richard Petitt (Eileen) of Waynesville, MO, Timothy Petitt (Rita) of Whitehouse, TN, Robert Petitt (Yee) of Bangkok, Thailand, and James Petitt (Cali) of Lafayette, LA; one sister, Carol Morrison; and thirteen grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends. A combat veteran, Mr. Petitt loved his country and served 24 years in the United States Air Force, including service in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart. After retiring from the Air Force, Ralph went to work for the U. S Post Office. Ralph was the kind of person who never met a stranger because everyone he met became his friend almost immediately. He was very personable and had the knack for making people laugh. In his younger days he loved to fish, but his favorite hobby was antique cars, which carried on right up to the end of his life. But more important than all those was his love for his family, beginning with his beloved Patricia, and then through the decades with their boys and grandchildren. Ralph will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him. The family entrusted Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Ln) with the arrangements and chose cremation. There will be no local service for Mr. Petitt, but the family will hold a Celebration of Life service in his beloved West Virginia later this year.
