Patricia Grayson

September 18, 1936 — March 6, 2025

Bowling Green

Patricia Ann Morris Grayson peacefully passed on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, in Bowling Green, KY, at age 88. She was born in Appalachia, VA, on September 18th, 1936, to her parents, James Walker Morris and Martha Virginia Ireson.

She built and lived a happy life with her husband, Jack Markwood Grayson Sr. Her ultimate joy was found in her six extraordinary children: Jack Markwood Jr., William Patrick, Kellie Ruth, Deborah Dean, Benjamin Isaac, and Edward Solomon.

Patricia had the great pleasure of watching her family grow throughout her life, with wonderful in-law-children, 27 grandchildren (14 girls and 13 boys) and 35 great-grandchildren filling her life with light and love—each knowing and loving her as Granny.

She was the most loving, devoted mother and wife. Her soul was soft, sweet and driven, and it was shown in the way she lived her life. Patricia was the valedictorian of her high school class and a varsity cheerleader and basketball player. One of her greatest hobbies was making personalized and detailed memory books for all her posterity.

Patricia had the unique talent to make each person in her life feel loved. Whether it was walking on a winding, country road with a stray dog and a walking stick in her hand or playing card games that brought her competitive spirit to the surface, she made people feel seen, heard and loved.

The smell of her home was filled with her ginger snaps, scotcheroos and snickerdoodles. The sound of her home was filled by the songs she would sing and the piano she would play. And the feeling in her home was love, always love.

Patricia found joy in all of these little things of life, but what she held most precious was her identity as a daughter of God. Studying the gospel of Jesus Christ allowed her to know God’s love, which she then shared with others. She was driven and devout in her faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Patricia found great purpose in not only learning the gospel but teaching that gospel in a way that brought many to their Savior, Jesus Christ.

The image we are all left with is of Patricia, Granny, on her front wooden porch swing, the golden sun setting around her. The summer air gently rocks the swing back and forth, the movement creating peace. Her voice, smooth and soft, fills the sky and is carried by that warm, summer breeze to all who love her.

May we remember Patricia at her memorial service, which will be held on March 10th, 2025, at 2 pm at Cone Funeral Home, Bowling Green, KY. Visitation will be held from 1 pm - 2 pm.  All are welcome to come celebrate the beautiful life of Patricia Ann Morris Grayson.
