Mary Ray

d. June 7, 2020

Mary F. Ray was born August 31, 1934 in Bowling Green, Ky. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Hebrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She loved to cook and retired from Quality Inn Motel many years ago. She enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, flowers and family. When she became sick, word search puzzles was her homework. When the sun rose beautifully on Sunday morning of June 7, 2020 she stepped over into Glory and knew it was well with her soul at the age of 85 years old. Mary was born to the late Dillard Higginbotham and Nellie Bessie Higginbotham. She married the late George W. Ray, July 23, 1950 in Warren Co. Ky. Together they raised nine children with much love and care. Many memories will linger with her children: Margaret Lightfoot, Mary Barnett and her companion, Earnie Butts; Carroll (David) Lightfoot; Pamela (Glen) Maxey; Lee Ray and his companion, Lynetta; James Ray and Steve Ray; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Ray and Gary Ray and one sister, Geraldine Highwarden. A walk thru visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 4 pm - 8 pm in the chapel of Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane) and again on Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 11 am - 1 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 pm with burial to follow at Mt. Hebrew Church Cemetery, Louisville Road, Bowling Green, Ky. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home with arrangements. You may offer your condolences and view the online at www. conefuneralhome. com
