Martha June Carson, 75, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away at Hospice House on January 9th, 2025. Martha was proceeded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mary Carson and her sister Nelly Gooden. Martha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Holly Cherry, her grandchildren Brayden Armstrong and Reagan Cherry. She is also survived by brother-in-law Charles Gooden, nephews Eric Gooden (Jennine Kash) and Chris Gooden (Robin Gooden), their children Ryan Gooden and Cameron Gooden.
Martha retired from the Department of Social Services with the state of Kentucky after 34 years of service. She attended Greenwood Baptist Church with her family. She was active in church and enjoyed serving her whole life. Martha loved camping at Mammoth Cave and the Smokey Mountains, reading a good book, and spending precious time with her family. Granny’s house was her grandchildren’s favorite place to have a sleepover. Martha loved to travel and make weekend get aways for Scott as a child. She was a two-time cancer survivor and she volunteered with Reach for Recovery to help counsel and assist recently diagnosed cancer patients navigate their own diagnosis. Martha was an extremely generous person. She spent countless hours volunteering at her church and many different local organizations. She was a beloved Mother, wonderful Grandmother to her grandchildren and good loyal friend to many.
Visitation will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Cone Funeral Home in Bowling Green on Wednesday, January 15th immediately followed by a service at 1:00pm for friends and family. Burial will be at 3:00pm at Fairview Cemetery.
