Our Dear Mother Charles Marie Anthony Shelton entered into rest January 4, 2019 surrounded by prayer and the laughter of family. She professed a love for One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism at New Bethel Baptist Church, Rev. Earl J. Jackson, Pastor. Charles Marie Anthony Shelton was born July 7, 1935, in Bowling Green Ky. A daughter of the late Clifford Anthony Sr. and Charles Marie Johnson Anthony and granddaughter of the late Wallace Anthony and Bessie Lively Anthony, Herschel and Lena Johnson. Marie attended Delafield Elementary School and State Street High School. With Technical College, she went on to pursue data processing at The University of Pennsylvania Hospital and clerical office work at Holley Carburetor and later was a machine operator at Holley. She moved on to care for the elderly and disabled in their homes. Marie enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, and animals. In her earlier days, she had a love for golfing, sewing and quilting. Marie enjoyed trips and cruises as an active member of Eastern Star Phila. , PA. Chapter, and Bowling Green, Ky. Chapter. Marie was widowed by World War II Navy Veteran the late James Glasgow Shelton. Charles Marie was preceded in death by her son, Clifford Wayne McKinney from the union of Chester L. McKinney and Charles Marie Anthony McKinney; sisters: Margaret Anthony, Linda Anthony Ferguson and Mary Etta Anthony Landrum; sister in law, Debra Anthony; brothers; Ezra Anthony, Herschel M. Anthony and William Follis Anthony. To cherish the memories of Charles Marie she leaves her children, Gregory L. McKinney of Dallas, Texas and Zanetta Clarissa Shelton Halcomb of Bowling Green, Ky. Grandchildren; Brandon Keye Whitney, Brandy Yvonne Stokes, Amenemope Sheba-Tiye McKinney, Nizingha Amenia McKinney, Donald E. Halcomb, and Anthony A. Kelsey. Great Grandchildren; Elise Marie Stokes, Elias Martin Stokes and Kellan D. J. Halcomb; sisters: Cecile Anthony Denning, Clara Elizabeth Crabtree and sister in law, Alene McKinney Denning; brothers, Rev. Clifford (Wilma) Anthony Jr. , and David Samuel Anthony. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive. The funeral service for Charles Marie Anthony Shelton will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 12 noon in the chapel of Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane, Bowling Green). The family will receive friends from 9:30 a. m. until 11:30 a. m. on Saturday. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden. Cone Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
