Karen Barr

After a difficult battle with melanoma, Karen Marie Francis Barr 73, passed away in Bowling Green at her residence on September 12, 2024 surrounded by friends and family. 

Karen came into this world kicking and a screaming on July 27,1951 in Louisville, Kentucky to Shirley and Herman her loving parents. A little later in life they relocated to Bowling Green, where she joined several clubs including the year book committee at Warren Central High School. She was in the graduating class of 1969. She went to The College of Cosmetology. She began her cosmetology career while being married and raising her children. She started her career at salon's such as Prince's, Castner Knott, and, Pizazz. she ended her career 30 years later at Studio 1. From there she went on to work for fruit of the loom for 9 years, where she gained many friends. She then went to work for shop NBC (Shop HQ) where she retired from.

Karen raised 2 daughters, she was so fiercely loving and family oriented that we wouldn't know where we would be if it wasn't for her. She made sure we knew we were loved. She was the backbone and our biggest supporter.

Karen absolutely loved the beach , Florida flamingos, white Russian drink, her close friends, and most of all her family. She also loved her church family at Hillview Heights Church.

Karen was proceeded in death by her grandparents Laverne and Clifford Recevour, her parents Shirley Sils and Herman Francis.

She is survived by her sister Lisa Johnson, daughters, Tracy Browning (Chris), and Shanna Smith (Kashia). Grandchildren Hayley, Deena, Shylar, Byron, and Heather Johnson. Great grandchildren, CJ, Bailey, Christine, Colton, and Emerie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
