Judy Simmons

Judy Lee Simmons passed away December 9, 2023, at Hospice of Southern KY, in Bowling Green , KY.  She was 73 years old and succumbed to stage 4 lung cancer, after having survived breast cancer for 9 years.

Judy was a nurse for 40 years and spent her life helping the sick and dying.

Around 1973, she and Carlos Crump Romero attended the Kenneth Cox Crusade at a tent meeting in Bowling Green, KY, where both accepted the Lord as Savior and were baptized.  She was a strong, Christian, woman who loved Jesus and knew Heaven as her eternal home, through faith in the cleansing blood of Christ, her personal Savior. She is resting in Jesus until the Lord  returns to take us all home to that great family reunion in Heaven.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; Clyde Yancey and Novella Creekmoore Yancey;  son, Robert Julian Romero, who passed away April 28, 2023. Also, her husband, Charles Wayne Simmons who died  October 25, 2023.

She is survived by her ex-husband, Carlos Crump Romero; daughters,  Carla Jo Pickett and Danielle Marie Simmons; sons,  Carlos Yancey Romero and Timothy Bryon Romero; sisters, Fredia Stephens, Velma Sue Dennison, and Marcella Head; brother, Itdus Yancey; 7 grandchildren and scores of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements entrusted to Cone Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2023, at the funeral home from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life will follow at Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1740 Cave Mill Road  4:30 PM – 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cone Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
