Judy Jo (Roark) Garmon passed away at Hospice House of Southern KY on May 28, 2023. She was born May 15, 1946, to Dora Vallie Wilkerson Roark and Joseph Arvel Roark. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Jackie Gleason Garmon. Judy attended Warren County Elementary and High School from grades 1-12. She graduated from Warren County High School in 1964. Judy was saved when she was 14 years old. As an adult, she became a charter member of Three Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She and Jack faithfully attended there until their health challenges prevented them from doing so. Judy never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone, entertaining them with her wry sense of humor. She loved cracking jokes, often at her own expense. She was the life of any party and could make you laugh until you could not breathe. Her outgoing personality served her well during the more than 20 years she worked in the dental profession, first as a chairside assistant, then in a local dental lab where her creative skills helped provide beautiful smiles for many people in the community. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great nieces with all of her heart. She enjoyed sharing stories of their accomplishments and school activities. Their list of talents included marching band, orchestra, guitar, softball and excellent academics. Judy loved her pets Lucy and Nala. They kept her company, especially after the passing of her husband, Jack. Judy loved working in her yard, playing Rook, lunching with the Yo-Yos, watching sports, especially baseball and golf, and spending time with her family. Times were different when Judy was young. She could have been an incredible softball player, but girls did not have that opportunity then. She played baseball with the neighborhood boys and everyone wanted her on their team. She had a fast pitch that could burn any boy out of his glove. Judy is survived by her daughter, Kathy Garmon; son, Alan Garmon (Yash); three grandchildren, Clara Elizabeth and Jon Michael Hamilton, and Griffin Garmon; two great-nieces, Lily and Natalie Burris; sister, Jacqueline Smith (Dennis); brother-in-law, Joseph Garmon (Jeanne); two nieces, Kellie Conner (Steve), Danielle Burris (Jeremy); nephew, Ashley Smith (Rachael); as well as several beloved cousins. Judy leaves to cherish their friendship some very special longtime friends, Alice Harwood Borders, Claudeen Sims, Sue Owen and the Yo-Yos. The health struggles Judy experienced in the last several months were very difficult, but the compassionate care provided by Colonial Center and Hospice of Southern KY is deeply appreciated by her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cone Funeral Home. As Judy requested, cremation was chosen. A private graveside service will be held. The family requests expressions of sympathy be given in the form of donations to Hospice of Southern KY, Alzheimer’s Association or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in Judy’s memory.
