Mr. John Darrell Turner, age 87 of Russellville, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.
The Family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home with arrangements.
Funeral services for Mr. John Turner are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Pearce Memorial Methodist Church in Auburn, KY.
Visitation with the family will begin on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church and again on Saturday at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM . Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, KY.
John was born March 22, 1936, at his home near Drakesboro Kentucky to the late Clarence Jefferson Turner and the late Grace Mahlosky Turner. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Boggess Turner; a daughter, Mary Ruth Turner; second wife, Deborah Evans; brother, Carl Turner and a sister, Jonell Turner Hardison.
John was a proud Alumni of Murray State University. He managed Ormsby Village Childrens Farm in Louisville from 1959 to 1965. He served in the Farm Management division for Citizens Fidelity Bank in Louisville from 1965 to 1972. John then managed the Shaker Farm at Shakertown from 1972 to 1977 and started Shaker Realty & Auction Company in 1975 and was an RVP for Primerica Financial Services from 1982 to 2022.
John loved his family more than anything and if you knew him, you were sure to see many pictures and hear many stories of his loved ones.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Patricia Taylor (David) of Russellville, KY, Beverly Newman (Keith) of Alvaton, KY and Christy Lanham (Kelly) of Graham, TX; step-son, Shannon Bratton of Clarksville, TN; brother, Jim Turner (Kay) of Greenville, KY; grandchildren, Chad Taylor (Cheyenne), Kristen Brewer (Logan), Paige Cates (Josh), Katelyn Bjoralt (Michael), Jake Lanham (Libby), Hunter Lanham and Riley Lanham; step grandchildren, Justin Taylor (Tina), Ashley Taylor Holder, Jackson Bratton and Maggie Bratton; great-grandchildren, Zoe Taylor, Jase Cates, Greyson Brewer, Nona Bjoralt, Eli Cates, Turner Brewer, and Lexi Kaye Bjoralt due in April; step-great-grandchild, Zachary Holder.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to Kentucky Methodist Children's Home or to the Gideons. Donations may be made at the church and given to a funeral home employee.
