Joe Dotson

Joe Dotson of Oakland Kentucky, went to be with Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior Thursday July 13, 2023, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Born September 18, 1931, in Buchanan County Virginia, He was the son of Green Dotson and Lucy Dotson (Cooke). Early in his adult life he served in the United States Army. He then worked in the Coal Mines of Virginia, and later had a career as skilled tradesman at General Motors in Flint Michigan. His passion in later life was farming and singing at his church, Oakland Baptist. He also enjoyed the Smith’s Grove Lions club. Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Green and Lucy Dotson, brother; John Dotson, sister; Gladys Blackburn, son; Gregory Dotson, daughters; Kathy King and Sherrie Ayala. Stepsons; Michael Ogilvie and David Ogilvie. He is survived by his loving Wife; Clara Dotson, Sister; Pearl Jackson, Sons; David Dotson, Kenneth Dotson, Stepsons; Mark Ogilvie, Dale Ogilvie, and Daniel Ogilvie. Stepdaughter; Doris Monroe, numerous Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Special friends; Bryan and Braylen Lee and Caretaker; Lyda Flynn. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 19 at 11:00am Oakland Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakland Baptist Church or Hospice of Southern Kentucky
