Joseph Barnard Woodring, 77, collapsed at his home and later passed away suddenly on December 12, 2024 at Tristar Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green, KY. Joe was born at home on May 6,1947. He was the middle child and main instigator of the six children, and son to James and Florence Woodring of Rineyville, KY. In 1965, Joe graduated from North Hardin High School and then enlisted in the US Air Force.
For 52 years, Joe was the beloved husband of Patricia, whom he married on November 24, 1972. His greatest joy and honor was in being the best example to all he possibly could, as well as in being the best husband, father, and Papaw to his loving family. Joe was a life long, faithful, God-fearing man who was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to books, playing with the grandkids and being ornery with all of us before calming the chaos he started.
Those left to cherish and share memories of Joe are his spouse, Pat Woodring; son Scott Woodring (daughter in law, Neysa Woodring); son-in-law, Matt Nelson; grandchildren: Noah Woodring, Ella Kate Nelson, Maddie Grace Nelson, Rebekah Woodring, and Anna Beth Nelson; siblings: Allen Woodring, Patsy (Woodring) Martin, Jean Woodring, Jane (Woodring) Huffard, as well as several in laws, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, his daughter, Michelle Lynn (Woodring) Nelson and his brother, David Woodring.
Our husband, father, brother, uncle, Papaw will be dearly missed by family and friends. We were his pride and joy and his greatest role in life was being a wonderful Christian example to all of us!
Romans 8:37-39 HCSB
“[37] No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. [38] For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, [39] height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord!”
We are including the beautiful lyrics to the song, One Last Moment, our sweet Anna Beth wrote for her mother’s home going nearly three years ago. Her words beautifully express how we feel about losing Joe, too!
One Last Moment ©️2023 by Anna Nelson
I wasn't ready for you to leave
Wasn't ready to feel this empty
Wasn't ready to live without you
I wasn't ready to say goodbye
Wasn't ready to leave behind
All the times I had with you
One last moment
just one more I love you
Just another kiss
That I could hold on to
One more night where I could know you're there
Just another day
That I could spend with you
I wasn't prepared for the time
When I would lose my mind
Over grief and sorrow
Cause I wasn't ready to hold another
Wasn't ready to lose a mother
Wasn't ready for that
One last moment
Just one more I love you
Just another kiss
That I could hold on to
One more night where I could
Know you’re there just another day
That I could spend with you
