Mr. Jim Leon Morton, age 81, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Magnolia Village in Bowling Green, KY. Jim was born August 16, 1940, in Dawson Springs, KY, to the late James Morton and the late Katherine Sisk Morton. He was also preceded in death by his sweet wife of 58 years, Doris Cruther Morton, and their daughter, Jamie Ann Morton-Paul, and son in law, Steve Paul. Jim is survived by his aunt, Barbara Lee Sisk, of Dawson Springs, KY, and his dearly best friends, Terry Clayton of Bowling Green, KY, Robbie Gouvas of Bowling Green, KY, Chuck Phillips of Bowling Green, KY, Dalton Gunderson, and Allison Gunderson of Adairville, KY. Jim was a member at Dawson Springs First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs, KY. Jim was a 1958 graduate of Dawson Springs High School and an Alumni of Western Kentucky University where he earned his BS and MS. Jim taught Biology at Warren Central High School for 25 years and coached football for a few years before retiring. He was a member of the NEA Retired Teachers and the KEA Retired Teachers. He was also a member of Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited. Jim enjoyed hunting waterfowl and fishing when he got an opportunity. He made game calls, refinished, and repaired antique furniture. He also loved to read, rev up the grill to bbq, and made many trips to the riverboat. Jim was a laid-back man that loved the outdoors, his wife, family, and friends dearly. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane) with arrangements. Jim’s wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes buried beside his wife in Bowling Green Gardens in Bowling Green, KY. There are currently no scheduled services. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to the Warren County Humane Society at 1925 River Street, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
