James Earl Farmer, 86 of Bowling Green went home to be with His Lord and family on October 28, 2014. He was born on June 30, 1928 to the late Byrd Franklin and Lillie Belle Farmer. Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy J. Farmer. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Gracie Powell and Ellie Mae Ashby; one brother, Walter Farmer and his grandson, Johnny Moore. Mr. Farmer was a retired self-employed finish carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of Romans Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon emeritus, head usher and groundskeeper. He is survived by one son, James and his wife, Anita who was like a daughter to him; two daughters, Helen Farmer and Betty Lou Casteel and husband, Jeff; 5 grandchildren, Ricky (Valeria) Moore, Randy (Amanda) Moore, David (Amanda) Farmer and Linda Farmer; ten great grandchildren and a very special friend, Charles Casteel. The family would like to send a special thanks to all the staff at Christian Health Center and Hospice for all their loving care. Visitation for James Farmer will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 4 pm - 8 pm at Cone Funeral Chapel and again on Friday, October 31 from 9 am until time of service at Romans Road Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at the church at 2 pm with interment at Still Cemetery. Brother Jeff Casteel will be officiating.
