Jack Gordon, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather passed away on August 19, 2024 at the age of 69. Born on November 25, 1954, in, Jack's life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to his profession and the cherished relationships he fostered with family and friends.
Jack’s career as a millwright showcased his skill and commitment to his work until he retired. Prior to his career in millwrighting, served in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1973 and proudly serving until his honorable discharge in August 1977. His military service was a testament to his character, marked by discipline and honor.
Outside of work, Jack was passionate about his hobbies. He enjoyed playing pool, riding his motorcycle, working on cars, and reading. However, his most treasured moments were spent surrounded by his family and friends, highlighting his role as a devoted family man who made time for those he loved.
Jack is survived by his four children: Monica Faye Gordon Miller of Bowling Green, KY; Jamie Betancourt, accompanied by Anthony Betancourt in Jacksonville, Florida; Christy Deaton, alongside Brian Deaton in Mount Sterling, KY; and Christopher Cornett of Shelbyville, KY. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Sydney Deaton of Glendale, California; Lucas Gordon and Alex Miller, both of Summerville, South Carolina; Julia Betancourt and A.J. Betancourt, both from Jacksonville, Florida; and Christopher David Cornett and Kayleigh Cornett of Shelbyville, Kentucky. Furthermore, Jack was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Jaelyn and Freya Cornett, both residing in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
In addition to his immediate family, Jack is survived by his brother, Jim Gordon of Oregon; sister-in-law, Tracy Smith of Shelbyville, KY; and brother-in-law, William David Smith, married to Debbie.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife, Robin Sue Gordon Smith; his sister, Deborah Hughto; his parents, David and Ruby Gordon; and his father-in-law, John David Smith. Jack's legacy is one of love, strength, and a spirit that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The memorialization of Jack Gordon will serve as a reminder of a life well-lived, marked by service, family values, and the joy he brought to those around him. His impact will forever resonate in the hearts of his loved ones.
