Harold Murphy

July 27, 1945 — November 15, 2023

Harold Briggs Murphy (known to many as HB) passed peacefully in his sleep on November 15,2023. He was born on July 27,1945, in Bowling Green, KY, to Harold Briggs and Olga Murphy. He was proceeded in death by his father, his mother, his brothers,  Steve Murphy and Johnny Murphy. HB is survived by a brother, Billy Murphy (Robert); a sister, Joyce Smith (Jim) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda. They were married on January 9, 1984. Together they have six children: Troy Murphy (DeeDee), Taressa Murphy Young (Scotty), Matthew Murphy (Vinetta), Christa Mooney (Ben), Emily Perkins (Nathan), Joshua Murphy and Jennifer Murphy. Nineteen Grandchildren: Ben Murphy (Valerie), Patrick Murphy, Matthew Allred (Amanda), Ryan Allred (Megan), Austin Murphy, Logan Murphy, Riley Hurt, Rhayna Hurt, Ava Murphy, Paige Perkins Matthews (Allen), Drake Perkins, Chloe Perkins, Owen Perkins, Harrison Mooney, Grant Mooney, Garrett Mooney, Carter Murphy, Madeline Murphy, Samantha Murphy and three great-grandsons: Julien Murphy, Hudson Matthews and Declan Lemieux. HB served in the Navy for four years. He retired from Local 107 Pipe Fitters & Welders in Louisville, Ky. He traveled many different states and became known as a very skilled welder. After many years of the traveling he decided he wanted to stay close to home. He, also, retired from Hill's Pet Products after 13 years in the maintenance department and retired from Bowling Green/Warren County Justice Center after 12 years in the maintenance department. He really wanted more time to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whatever sport or program the grandchildren were involved in Grandpa and Meme Linda would be there. For three years he helped coach a basketball team and was planning to help coach this year. The boys on that team thought he was great and looked forward to him being there. HB got interested in power lifting and bench pressing, which lead to competitions. He always came home with a trophy. His plan was to compete in the World Power Lifting and Bench Press in February. We all thought he was the best. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hillvue Heights Church, 3219 Nashville Road, at 6:00 PM, November 28, 2023. Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 PM.
