George Wesley Billingsley

George Wesley Billingsley, 91 of Bowling Green, KY, passed away at Tri Star Skyline Medical Center in Nashville on December 22, 2024. He was the son of the late Onie C. and Mildred N. Slayton Billingsley. George was the husband of the late Edna Spencer Billingsley of sixty nine years. He was born April 26, 1933 in Barren County. He was a member of Park Street Church of Christ which is now Greenwood Park Church of Christ where he served as a deacon from 1965-1996, and later served as a shepherd from 1996-2012. George was the spiritual leader of his family whom he loved deeply. He worked hard to support his family and leaves a legacy for them. His absence can never be replaced, but he is rejoicing with his Lord and Savior today. George was a US Army Sergeant First Class (1953-1961) who served in the Korean War. He was a tool and die maker by trade where he worked for Holley Performance, Cutler Hammer, and General Motors when he retired in 1997. He was a farmer who loved the land and embraced a life· of hard work. 

George is survived by his three children; Cynthia Hulsey, Barry Billingsley (Sandy), and Denise Russell (Bill). Sister-in-laws; Brenda Kirk and Betty Boyd of Glasgow, KY. Seven grandchildren; Seth Hulsey, Adam Billingsley (Lauren), Shelby Clayton (Will), Will Billingsley (Allie), Spencer Russell, Bryce Russell, and Jake Russell. Four great grandchildren; Eloise Clayton, Quinn Clayton, Maggie Billingsley, and Baker Billingsley as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers; Howard, Holman, Paul, Charlie, Johnny Billingsley, and three sisters Marie Goode, Mary Ruth Hickman, and Margaret Huffman, brother-in-law Charlie Kirk and son-in-law Dr. Tim Hulsey. 

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Greenwood Park Church Taylor Christian Camp Scholarship Fund. 

The children would like to thank Charter assisted living for helping with dads care the last 6 months where George met and connected with some old friends and made some impactful last memories.
