Gary Perdue

October 28, 1945 — September 3, 2022

Gary Perdue, 76 of Bowling Green, entered into rest on the afternoon of September 3, 2022, at Genesis Health Care after bravely battling a recent illness. Gary was born the son of Lucille Spalding and Robert Perdue on October 28, 1945. As a boy and through adulthood, Gary kept active through commitment to the Boy Scout’s organization, and he eventually rose to the rank of Eagle Scout. Inspired by the principles formed as a youth in the Scouts, Gary enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. A valiant soldier, Gary’s platoon was tasked with performing the first amphibious landing since Normandy. Gary’s time in the service yielded a man of sincerest devotion to country, cause, and brotherhood. Gary’s proudest title in life was that of father to his three sons: Michael (Chandra), Robert (Jackie), and Jacob (Deena). In his sons, Gary instilled the values of hard work and self-sufficiency, Gary’s ideal day involved taking in a University of Kentucky sporting event or working on a big rig semi-truck while in the company of his sons and their families. While the loss of Gary is overwhelming for his sons, the pain of his passing will never diminish the impact of their father’s guiding hand. In addition to his children, Gary is survived by an expansive group of friends and family, notably: Kathy Perdue, his life partner and best friend of over twenty years; his grandchildren – Kora Perdue, Jadeyn Perdue, Skylar Perdue (Riley), and Avery Perdue; daughter-in-law, Jackie, Deena, and Chandra; nephew, Danny Perdue; and cousin, Debbie. Gary was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Perdue, and his parents, Lucille Spalding and Robert Perdue. Visitation and gathering of friends & family will be at Cone Funeral Home, Bowling Green, KY; Friday, September 9th from 10:00 am -12:00 pm, and the memorial service will start around 12:00 pm.
