Gary Lemuel Lockhart, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on January 1, 1942, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Gary led a life filled with dedication, love, and community. 

Gary enjoyed a notable career at the Directorate of Public Works in the Division of Engineering at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, where his commitment to service was palpable. Above all, Gary was a proud  Army veteran, having served his country with honor and distinction. His military background laid the foundation for a life marked by integrity and strong values.

A passionate outdoorsman, Gary loved to hunt and fish. He spent countless joyful hours fishing at Barkley and Kentucky Lakes, where he created lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Summer fish fries with family and friends were beloved traditions during his many years residing in Pembroke, Kentucky, reflecting his warm spirit and the importance he placed on family connections.

Gary is survived by his beloved spouse, Gennie Vernon Lockhart, who stood by his side through many of life's adventures. He is also survived by his daughter, Gina Cornell (Chuck) of Elkton, Kentucky, and a grandson, Gary L. West. Gary was especially proud of his family, which expanded to include two granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is further survived by his sister, Peggy Perry of Ridgeland, South Carolina.

He now joins his deceased family members, including his parents, Mary Elizabeth and Robert Lockhart, and his brother, Bud Lockhart.Gary Lemuel Lockhart leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and commitment to family and friends. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
