Garry Pounds, a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, and friend, passed away on March 21, 2025, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at the age of 68. Born on July 13, 1956, in Vincennes, Indiana, Garry was known for his kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Garry worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and as a shop manager. Garry spent his life cherishing the great outdoors. As a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, he delighted in the freedom of adventure that the open road and vast landscapes provided. He also loved working on his farm. His love for nature was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends, with whom he shared countless memorable moments.
A proud family man, Garry celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage to his loving wife, Gale Pounds. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and laughter, their bond serving as an inspiring example of unconditional love. Garry was also a devoted father to his three sons, Damon (Olivia), Dustin (Amber), and Scott (Mel) Pounds. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to his five cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Marissa, Zachary, Koda, and Kiya, who were the apples of his eye.
Garry is survived by his wife, Gale; his brother, James (Genie) Pounds; his sister Deborah Higginbotham; his sons, Damon (Olivia), Dustin (Amber), and Scott (Mel); and his grandchildren, who will forever carry his memory and spirit in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby Pounds, and his sister, Linda McConnell. They, along with countless friends and family, will surely welcome him into eternity.
Garry Pounds leaves behind a legacy of kindness, adventure, and love that will resonate within the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his genuine warmth and his ability to build connections with everyone he met. His spirit will live on in the memories of those he touched and the lives he enriched.
The family of Garry will host a celebration of life in July at his home in Kentucky.
