Ellis Clay Gidcumb, age 76, went to be home with his heavenly father on December 24, 2023. Ellis was born to the late Roy and Eula (Kemp) Gidcumb on October 20, 1947. Ellis served honorably ln the United States Army from 1969 -1971.
Ellis was a member of Carve Rock Baptist Church. He worked at Holley Carburetor for 15 years and retired from lmco Recycling ln Morgantown. Ellis is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol (Ordway) Gidcumb. Ellis loved being with his sons and grandchildren(and his cows). He is preceded ln death by his parents, 1 sister Dorothy Sue and 3 brothers Lenis, Estill and Lonnie Gidcumb.
Ellis is survived by his wife Carol and two sons; Andrew (Alyssa) and Derek (Davina) of Morgantown. 8 grandchildren; BreAnna Gidcumb stationed in Washington, Lillian Givens (Walter), Autumn Burden (Austin), Danielle, Avery, Elijah and Jaclyn Gidcumb and McKinley Marecle all of Morgantown.
He is survived by 7 sisters; Marlene Tyree, Ova Coots, Edna Minton, Pearl Leach and Patty Gidcumb all of Morgantown. Hazel Miller of Beaverdam and Cassie McKinney of Bowling Green. Several Nieces and Nephews, Great and Great Great Nieces and nephews. Ellis is also survived by a dear cousin Richard Gidcumb.
Ellls always had a smile on hls face and nice words to say about everyone. Ellis was a friend to everyone he met. He was a much loved man, not only by his famlly, his church families, but with friends from all around. He never met a stranger (or a cow) he couldn't talk too. Ellis loved being on the farm with his grandson, Elijah and his granddaughters, Avery and Jaclyn. When they were small he would take them on rides in his mule and they would talk and laugh for hours. He was so proud of his grandson Elijah for loving the farm as much as he did. When he had to cut back on his farming, Elijah stepped right up and took over for his Papaw. Ellis was so proud of him. He loved being with his grandchildren and telling them stories of "back in the day". Ellis will truly be missed by everyone.
Visitation will be Friday December 29, 2023, 3:00 to 8:00pm at Carve Rock Baptist Church on 18 Carverock Cemetery Road in Bulter County.
Vistation will continue from 10:00 to 1:00pm Saturday December 30, 2023 with Funeral at 1:00pm.
Burial will be at Sandy Creek Cemetery with Military honors follwing the funeral.
