Dolly Bates

Mrs. Dolly Ruth Bates, age 86, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Christian Health Care in Bowling Green, KY. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, at 12:00pm at Creston Cemetery in Crossville, TN. Dolly was born in Nashville, TN, to the late Reverend S. E. Templeton and Martha Holt Templeton. She is also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Clarence Ray Bates. She is survived by her three daughters, Emily Gail Webster (Chuck) of Gallatin, TN, Donna Bates Knowles (Claude) of Crossville, TN, Janet McClung (Robert) of Bowling Green, KY; six grandchildren, Cara Moffett (Bart), Callie Khine, Scott Webster, Donathan Knowles (Shaunte), Andrew McClung (Courtney), Chad McClung; and seven great-grandchildren. Dolly loved the Lord and was very involved with church ministry all her life. She played piano and sang in the choir since she was fifteen years old. She also wrote skits and dramas for her church. Dolly retired after twenty-seven years from Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, TN. She loved sewing, cooking and always wanted things done with excellence. Dolly loved her family dearly and made sure they were her top priority. She loved all the holidays that involved family gatherings. Celebration Service Honoring Dolly R. TN DISTRICT LADIES RETREAT SCHOLARSHIP Dolly always looked forward to the TN District annual ladies retreats. She prepared many delicious snacks and funded several ladies to be able to go. It's said that the first place the ladies went was to moms room to enjoy all the snacks she had prepared.
