Dean Marquiss Ellery, born on July 3, 1945, in Santa Monica, California, passed away on February 10, 2025, at Hospice House. He was a dedicated and hardworking cross-country trucker for 45 years, finding a unique sense of freedom on the open road. Dean graduated from Shelbyville High School in Shelbyville, Indiana.
Beyond his career, Dean had a passion for speed. When he wasn't on the road, he could often be found at the drag strip racing his beloved 46' Chevy Coupe. His love for cars led him to never miss a good car show, and he especially enjoyed watching classic drag races at Beech Bend. The roar of vintage engines brought him much joy, reflecting his adventurous spirit.
Dean deeply cherished time spent with his family and friends whenever his work allowed. He will be remembered for his passion, dedication, and the love he shared with those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Lynn Ellery, and step-daughter, Amy Campbell. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Dean Ellery; mother, Mary Margaret Beck; and grandparents, Walter and Burnice Beck. Dean will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
