Darrell Woods

Darrell Joseph Woods passed away peacefully at Hospice of Southern Kentucky on October 1, 2023.

Darrell was born February 25, 1949 in Covington, KY to the late Herbert Henry Woods and the late Gladys Evelyn Waits Woods. besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Woods, Donald Woods, and Edward Woods, and a sister, Phoeba Wilson.

He is survived by his wife Donna Jo Mahan Woods and their children, Sunny Rippetoe (Cindy) Lei Anne Rippetoe and Tara Lynn Woods; sister, Linda Nicholas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

What a wonderful life Darrell and Donna have had. Darrell loved to tell that they had visited all fifty states, been on five ocean cruises, two river cruises and traveled with multiple senior bus tours. Each adventure was full of wonderment. 

Darrell was the ultimate fisherman. His truck bed always carried his fishing equipment, just in case. He loved his occasional casino trips. Never winning much but always loving the moment. Darrell was probably the king of Dad Jokes. He could remember a joke when he couldn't remember anything else. 

He enjoyed his gym buddies at Live Active and the friendships they shared. He and Donna did many a two step and cha cha cha but probably were the best when they would glide across the floor to a beautiful waltz. Darrell, the Chairman of Entertainment Committee, will be missed so very much.

The family would like to invite you to a Celebration for Darrell on October 17, 2023 at The Convention Center at the KOA (1960 Three Springs Road, Bowling Green) with visiting and sharing from 5:30pm-6:30pm and a memory sharing time from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Bring your favorite Darrell story and/or pictures. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Southern Kentucky. 

The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home with arrangements.
