Darrell Hix

Darrell Wayne “Buck” Hix, 72, of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully, January 3, 2024, at Greenwood Nursing Home, after courageously fighting a lengthy illness.  The Warren County native was born September 13,1951, to the late W.D. and Delma Hix.

He was a member of Plum Springs Baptist Church, where, after many years, he publicly professed faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was baptized on May 9, 2021, with his family by his side.

Darrell worked for many years at Eaton/Cutler-Hammer, where he, also, played on the softball team.  In later years he retired from Pan-Oston.  He was known for his love of family, friends, sports, Classic Rock, Nascar, and the great outdoors.  You could always find him hunting deer or turkey; fishing for catfish or watching his treasured UK Wildcats and Dallas Cowboys.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, W.D. and Delma Hix; brothers, Clifton and Billy Joe Hix; sisters, Faye Woodson, Elda Martin, and Nancy Hix.

He leaves to honor his memory two sons, Chris Hix (Ronda) of Scottsville and Houston Hix (Brittany) of Smiths Grove; five grandchildren - Erik, Cason, and Harper Hix,Weston and Brennon; five great-grandchildren - Cameron, Haley, Katelyn, Brandon and Aiden; two brothers - Carlton Hix and Doug Hix (Marie) and three special sisters - Linda Craft (Raymond), Norma Cohron (Darrel) and Joy Hix, all of Bowling Green. They were his support system the last years of his life.  The family would like to thank a special care-giver, Lesia Collins, as well as Hosparus.

The family has chosen cremation which will be handled by Cone Funeral Home. Remains will be interred in Oak Forest Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Monday, January 8th and Tuesday, January 9th from 10AM-12PM, with funeral service at 12PM.
