Retired Sergeant Major, Daniel A. Cromer, United States Army, age 52, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2021, at Tristar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY. Sergeant Major Cromer was born in Kearney, Nebraska on May 14, 1969, to the late Gerald Alan Cromer and Linda Sue Cederburg Cromer who survives and resides in Bowling Green, KY. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Bonnie Cederburg. Daniel is survived by the love of his life, his loving wife of 16 beautiful years, Jennifer Lynn Rushing Cromer; 5 sons, Blake Alan (Stephanie) Cromer of NC, Chase Evan Cromer of Knoxville, TN, Zachary Ryan Cromer of Knoxville, TN, Ethan Michael Cromer of Bowling Green, KY, and Bradley Scott Cromer of Bowling Green, KY; granddaughter, Adriana Cromer; mother, Linda Sue Cromer of Bowling Green, KY; brother, Jason Cromer of TN; nephew, Talon Thomas of Paducah, KY; niece, Taylor Thomas of Paducah, KY, and his beloved Italian dog, Marco. Daniel was a 1988 graduate of Oak Harbor High School on Whidbey Island, Washington. He was a highly decorated combat veteran having served more than 30 years. He joined the military on May 9, 1989, and retired on December 31, 2019, and achieved the rank of Sergeant Major. Over the course of his career, he completed 3 combat tours and supported numerous military operations across the globe including Europe, Africa, and Asia. Among his numerous personal decorations were the Legion of Merit, 3 Bronze Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 stars, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Airborne Badge. Daniel had a zest for life, a love for Christ, and was a friend to all that knew him. He was a problem solver who loved a good challenge. He had a passion for cars, enjoyed a good round of golf, and most of all he loved his family. Daniel will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew him. The family has entrusted Cone Funeral Home (1510 Campbell Lane) with arrangements. Funeral services for Sergeant Major Daniel Cromer will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Cone Funeral Home with full Military Honors. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends and visitors, Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 4:00 PM.
