Bessie Sue Phelps (Bohannon), 74, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024 surrounded by family, at the Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Sue was born in Park City, KY on January 27, 1950 to the late Wiliam Bohannon and Ruth Jackman (Oller). Bessie Sue, as she was affectionately known, was the life of any gathering, bringing joy and laughter wherever she went. Her love for her family knew no bounds, she always went above and beyond for them. She loved staying busy; she was very active and was always ready to hit the road. She loved a good bargain and enjoyed finding treasures at yard sales. She was also very competitive and loved to win at rummy. She was a free spirit who always had blingin her hair or wearing animal print with red lipstick. She was an avid horror movie enthusiast; she loved watching horror movies and collected all of the old movies. She was kind, funny, and lived life to the fullest, fearlessly finding true happiness in her great-grandchildren.
Sue leaves behind her daughter Victoria Brown and her son Will Phelps; grandchildren Tyler Payne (Sarah), and Torey Rich-Payne: great-grandchildren Kyson Turner, Keenan Hamm, Charlie Hamm, and Hudson Payne; her sister Judy Bryant (Bohannon); as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Aline Ballard, Leslie Jackman, William Jackman, James Jackman, Irena Jackman, Janie Jackman, Dolly Lundy and Jody Bohannon.
