Alva Jones

Mrs. Alva Lee Swift Jones, age 96, of Bowling Green KY and formerly of Centerville IL passed away peacefully at Cal Turner Specialty Care & Rehab in Scottsville KY. Born June 1, 1925, in Camden TN, Alva Swift married Lewis K. Jones and Centerville IL became her home where they devoted their marriage of 64 years to raising their family. They attended Primitive Baptist Church in Centerville, became a successful farming family, enjoyed their children and grandchildren, and preserved the history of the family farmland and rural village of Centerville. After Lewis passed in 2005, Mrs. Jones resided in Carmi and in 2015 moved to Bowling Green KY near her daughter and son. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her devoted husband Lewis; her parents, Robert Swift and Hixie Helms Swift; her in-laws, Elder Charles E. Jones and Bertha Stanley Jones; daughter Penny Rae Jones; all 12 siblings; daughter-in-law Rachel Jones; and infant grandson. She is survived by her children, Junie Jones and Ken Jones of Bowling Green KY; Arma Raski of Herrin IL; grandsons, John Raski III (Susan) of Herrin IL, Kolton Jones of Nashua NH, and Konnor Jones of Eugene OR; great-grandsons, Luke and Dylan Raski of Herrin IL. A private graveside service will be held at Centerville Cemetery and interment will be beside her husband and mother. Mrs. Jones was deeply appreciative of the visits of long time family friends Eddie and Cecilia Paris of Crossville IL. Nancy Poynter, other personal caregivers, and staff at Morning Side Assisted Living Facility in Bowling Green KY; the staff at Cal Turner Specialty Care & Rehab Facility in Scottsville KY; and Bowling Green Medical Center staff and surgeons have the family’s deepest gratitude for their dedicated care of Mrs. Jones.
